Having successfully worked with IDN to review and update our wired network, the next step in securing our vision for embedding ICT, in learning was to add a wireless capacity to our network.
We discussed a number of solutions with a range of providers before deciding to install a "Cisco Wireless LAN Controller Solution". The pre-installation survey identified the optimum location for the wireless access points and the need for a managed solution, as we are surrounded by a significant number of domestic and commercial wireless networks. We also felt that the expertise and knowledge that IDN have, would ensure a successful installation and commissioning.
Since the beginning of the new school year, we have been using the wireless network with a set of 16 wireless-enabled laptops to provide intensive and immersive ICT -supported learning experiences with groups ranging from Reception to Year 6. The Managed Cisco Wireless Solution has been reliable and robust and has made a significant contribution in moving our school towards our vision for learning .
